Greetings from the MCIC President!
March 5, 2012
Hello to MCIC!
Since it is now March and we have had no snow to apeak of in Washington, I guess spring is on its way! I hope that wherere you are, the weather has been tolerable. And I really hope that the recent storms and tornadoes in the midwest and south did not affect your familites or facilities.
At our annual business metting last year, we discussed webinar topics that we felt would be most helpful to us in managing our facilities. We are working now to have one webinar a month beginning in April, when Renee Hite will speak about "Trapping Dirt at the door: Entrance Flooring - what it's all about!" If you know of a subject matter expert who could present a webinar for us, please let me know.
IFMA headquarters has been working diligently on updating/refreshing council websites and we will soon have a new look to our website. Lonnie Plotner, FMP will be serving as our new webmaster and interfacing with Houston on improving our website.
For our website refurbishment, we would like to include photographs of our members' spectacular grounds and facilities! We all have some really unique photos we can use in documents, presentations or meetings - how abouot forwarding us a copy of these photos? We can then post them on the website along with credit to the photographer and your organization. Please make sure these photos have been cleared for reproduction and public districution! Please send your photos to cooperj@si.edu by March 30 and we will get them posted.
Facility Fusion is coming up next month in Chicago. MCIC will be sponsoring a session on "FM Best Practices that Don't Break the Bank". I hope that you can make it to Facility Fusion, which has really grown over the last few years, particularly with the addition of a small expo.
I hope you are already planning your trip to San Antonio, TX for World Workplace 2012, which takes place from October 31 throught November 2,2012. We will have our annual meeting at World Workplace and look forward to seeing you there! Early bird registration for WWP ends on August 23, so get registered! http://www.worldworkplace.org/
